Women’s Team Selection Process

Ellipsis Ultimate Inc are excited to announce the selection process for our first ever Women’s Team.

We will be holding two tryout events on the following Saturday mornings during October. We invite anyone who is interested, and who resonates with both our club’s (and our team’s) vision to attend the tryouts.

Selection 1: Saturday 17th October, 8*-11am
Selection 2: Saturday 24th October, 8*-11am

Matt Hill, Cheok Funn Lee and Cat Phillips will be selecting a team of around 16-18 women and will be making their decisions based on the following things:

  • Throwing strength
  • Coachability
  • Game sense
  • Willingness to improve
  • Knowledge of the game
  • Athleticism
  • Reliability

So we have an idea of how many people to expect at the tryouts, we are asking that anyone that is interested in coming along fills out the following expression of interest form.

(Please read the rest of the page before filling out the form)

A professional club

One of our goals as a club is to increase the level of professionalism amongst ultimate teams in Australia. We have grown up playing other sports at various levels, and have noticed that even local community sporting clubs generally operate a lot more professionally than most clubs/teams in the ultimate community. This includes clubs that are playing at National and World Championships.

Whether this is due to the fact that we are a relatively new sport, or that the foundations of our sport are centred around the ‘Spirit Of The Game’ rather than ‘winning at all costs’, we believe that if we are to expect others to take us and our sport seriously, then we need to start going about things in a more professional way.

We admit that in our first few years as a club our focus has been anything but professional, but that has changed.

We spent quite a bit of time forming our new Vision and Mission statements, and if you’re interested in being a part of our club, it is important that you have a read of both of them and make sure it is something you would like to be involved with prix viagra maroc.

Season Calendar

We have put together a rough calendar outlining the required dates/times for all team trainings and tournaments.

There are two stages, the Preseason (Nov-Dec) and the Season (Jan-Apr).

During the Preseason we will be focusing more on individual fundamentals (sprinting technique, throwing, footwork, positioning, etc). We will continue this throughout the Season but will be incorporating these individual skills into team plays and strategies.

Team Expectations

Ellipsis has already put significant work into securing funding and sponsors for the 2016 season. This will enable the club to provide coaching, uniforms and other benefits free of charge for team members.  As such, a high level of commitment is expected from all team members, both on and off the field. All trainings are compulsory, and all players will be asked to give back to the club through coaching, administration or other tasks.

We expect the following things from all team members.

  • A commitment to improve:
    • your skills
    • your fitness
    • your knowledge of the game
    • your efforts
  • Respecting your teammates:
    • doing your rehab
    • attending training
    • arriving on time
    • sticking to the structures
    • knowing the game plan
  • Represent the club:
    • showcase the highest level of SOTG at all times
    • always give 100%
    • offer to help coaches/league coordinators/tournament directors
    • assist the club in promoting Women’s Ultimate
    • play as if you were representing Ellipsis regardless of the event (league/unigames/Melb Hat/etc)
