Coaching staff are locked in for 2018

It is our great pleasure to announce the coaching staff that will be overseeing the 2018 Nationals and WUCC campaign.

After opening up applications in July we were really impressed with the number of quality applicants that put their name forward. We want to thank you for your interest in the club and hope you are keen to be involved again sometime in the future.

Without further ado, we want to say a big congratulations and welcome to the Ellipsis family to Bree EdgarSteve Wright, and welcome back to Matt Hill.

2018 Coaching Staff

Bree Edgar

Bree has a huge level of experience in the women’s game, winning World Championships Gold with the Australian Stingrays in 2010 and more recently playing with the Australian Women’s team, the Firetails (2016). She has a unique outside perspective on the Ellipsis women, having played for Rogue Ultimate against us in the last two Australian Nationals Finals. Having coached various university teams since 2008, Bree has made coaching more of a focus of late and is currently an Assistant coach of the Australian Stingrays (who will be competing in Perth in Jan 2018).

I am impressed with the dedication to training and overall level of athleticism that Ellipsis has and I believe it’s a team that can be pushed to do more on field.

Steve Wright

Steve coached his first Australian team in 2012 (coincidentally alongside fellow Ellipsis coach Matt), and has gone on to do so again on four more occasions. In 2015, Steve became the first coach to lead a team to victory in the Trans-Tasman Test Series, away from home. Steve is already a familiar coach to many Ellipsis players, having coached a number of them in the 2015 Australian Stingrays, where the team placed an impressive 4th (going down on universe point in the Bronze medal game). Steve is so excited about coaching Ellipsis, he’s even moving to the mainland to do it!

I fundamentally believe that when players are trusted to contribute, are charged full of belief, and supported with positivity, it leads to the best result for both the individual and the team – on and off the field.

Matt Hill

Matt returns to Ellipsis after coaching them to victory in their inaugural 2016 season. Since then he has coached the Aussie Dingoes to a Bronze medal in London (2016) and a few months ago was in Poland coaching the Aussie Crocs at World Games. As a founder of the club, Matt is really excited to see where these incredible athletes can take their game, the sky’s the limit. Look out world!

There’s no way I want to miss what I believe will be the defining campaign for not only this club, but the one that changes the trajectory of Australian women’s ultimate.

Steve and Matt will be co-head coaches with Bree flying in from Sydney as an assistant.

We’re really excited for the upcoming season and pumped to have such an incredible coaching line up leading us through the campaign. Bring it on!
